Following official confirmation from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services [MOHMS] that the Fijian Elections Office [FEO] is not categorized as a ‘high risk’ business under the MOHMS guidelines, the FEO has from today, 04 February 2022, relaxed the covid-19 protocols at all its premises.
“Under the revised guidelines that has been issued by the Supervisor of Elections, the FEO will no longer be conducting vax check at its venues, however, it will continue with other COVID-19 safety measures at its premises,” explained Mr. Mohammed Saneem, Supervisor of Elections.
Early last month, the FEO had implemented all the safety protocols as required by MOHMS for high risk businesses following consultations with the Ministry.
“Since then we have been liaising with the MOHMS seeking clarification of the status of FEO and in the meantime we implemented safety measures as per the guidelines,” said Mr. Saneem. “Now that clarification has been done, anyone that was affected by the earlier measures and could not obtain voter services can do so from now until the election.”
The revised COVID-19 safety protocols will be implemented at all FEO offices from 04 February 2022. The FEO will still require all its staff to be fully vaccinated in-order to be employed at the FEO.
