Elections

The FEO is an independent institution established under the Electoral Act 2014 to ensure the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections in Fiji. Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Elections, the FEO is responsible for delivering electoral services that uphold the constitutional right of every Fijian to vote. Its core functions include managing the National Register of Voters, conducting voter education and outreach, training election officials, and overseeing all logistics related to elections, and managing political parties registration and conduct. The FEO operates with a strong commitment to transparency, professionalism, and public confidence in the democratic process.

The FEO is mandated to organize and supervise three (3) key types of elections in Fiji: General Elections, Local Government Elections, and Industrial Elections. It conducts General Elections to elect Members of Parliament, ensuring compliance with the Electoral Act 2014 and the Constitution. For Local Government Elections, the FEO manages all aspects of municipal voting once elections are called by the responsible authority. Under Section 154 of the Electoral Act 2014, the FEO also facilitates Industrial Elections for registered trade unions and approved organizations. Across all these mandates, the FEO promotes inclusive participation, safeguards electoral integrity, and strengthens democracy at every level.
