Voter Registration

Who can register?

Before you can vote, you need to make sure that your name is on the Voter List. This is the list of all eligible Fijians who are registered to vote in the General Election. Your name can only appear on the Voter List if you have registered.

In order to register to vote, you must be:

  • 18 years and above
  • A Fijian Citizen
  • Not serving a sentence of imprisonment of 12 months or longer imposed by a court of law in Fiji
  • Under a law in force in Fiji, not declared to have a mental disorder or to be of unsound mind

Requirements for voter registration

1. NEW REGISTRATION OR CORRECTION

Birth Certificate (Original or Certified True Copy) and any of the following Current
Photo ID:

  • Fiji Passport; or
  • Fiji National Provident Fund; or
  • Driver’s License; or
  • Social Welfare ID; or
  • T.I.N Card (Joint FIRCA/FNPF); or
  • Student ID from any Tertiary Institution registered with Fiji Higher Education
    Commission.

Overseas Born Fiji Citizens: Birth Certificate and Fiji Passport or any other Current Photo ID
with Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalisation or Certificate of Registration as a
Citizen of Fiji or Confirmation letter from the Fiji Department of Immigration.

2. REPLACEMENT

Any Current Photo ID as stated in 1 above.

What happens after I register?

Once you have been successfully registered as a voter you will be issued a Voter Card. You must present your Voter Card at the time you cast your vote.

Important Information

  • You can only Register to vote Once, double registration is unlawful
  • All registrations are to be done in person [you cannot register for someone else on their behalf]
  • Make sure to fill accurate details on your forms

Change of Residential Address:

According to section 5 (1) of the Electoral (Registration of Voters) Act, 2012 – A registered voter who changes his or her residential address shall, within three (3) months from the date of the change of residential address, notify the Supervisor of his or her new residential address

As a Voter, it is your responsibility to:

  • Continuously update your Voter Card details when required
  • Keep your Voter Card safe and secure
  • Check for latest election information

Mobile Voter Registration

If you are unable to visit a Voter Registration Centre (VRC) or Voter Services Centre (VSC) due to illness or physical incapacity, you may request mobile voter registration services.

How to Request Mobile Registration:

You can submit your request through any of the following methods:

  • Email
  • Telephone
  • Postal mail
  • A nominated person delivering a written request

Requests can be made at any VRC, VSC, or FEO office. Once received, a Mobile Registration Request Form will be completed and processed by the relevant officer.

What Happens Next:

  • Your request will be reviewed and logged.
  • A visit to your residence will be scheduled in a safe and efficient manner.
  • You will be contacted to confirm your location, required documents, and availability.

All approved visits will be carried out by trained officials following official procedures.

Note: Applications made within three (3) months of an election may not be processed in time for a mobile visit.

Reporting a Deceased Voter

To support fair and transparent elections and ensure the accuracy of the National Register of Voters (NRV), the FEO encourages the public to report the details of any deceased individuals who may still be registered as voters.

Purpose of Updating the NRV:

  • Ensures accurate voter statistics for operational planning
  • Helps prevent voter fraud
  • Keeps the register up to date

How We Verify:

  • Data matching with the Births, Deaths and Marriages Department
  • Reports from Next of Kin

How to Report a Deceased Voter

If you are a next of kin, you can report the passing of a relative by following these steps:

  1. Obtain and complete the FEO EVR 4 – Reporting of Deceased
  2. Ensure the form is fully completed with accurate details
  3. A Death Certificate is not mandatory, but the deceased’s information must match what is recorded in the NRV (full name, date of birth, and last known address).

You can submit the completed form to any FEO office.

Voter Registry Public Notice

Published List, as per section 12 and 13 Electoral (Registration of Voters) Act, 2012.” and under which you can list:

  • List of Deceased Persons
  • List of Removed Persons from the National Register of Voters

Verification of Voter Details in the National Register of Voters

To ensure your information is accurate and up to date, all registered voters are encouraged to verify their details in the National Register of Voters (NRV). Verification helps maintain the integrity of the voter roll and ensures a smooth voting process during the election period.

You can verify your voter details through the following methods:

  • Visit your nearest FEO Voter Services Centre.
  • Check the NRV during the public display periods.
  • Use the FEO Online Services Portal

You will need your Voter Card Number and Date of Birth to access and confirm your voter details.

Objections

A person whose name appears on the National Register of Voters may make an objection to the inclusion of the name of any other person on the National Register of Voters.

An objection made under subsection (1) must-

(a) identify the full name as it appears on the National Register of Voters, including the residential address, occupation, if any, gender and voter number of-

(i) the objector; and

(ii) the registered voter concerned.

(b) set out the grounds of the objection;

(c) set out the facts giving rise to the objection;

(d) contain a statutory declaration by the objector stating that the objector has made a conscientious effort to determine that the facts are true to the best of his or her knowledge and belief;

(e) be delivered in the form and manner approved by the Supervisor.
